• Απομόνωση δευτερογενών μεταβολιτών από φυσικές πηγές με φαρμακευτικό, δερμοκοσμητολογικό και διατροφικό ενδιαφέρον (Ελληνική και Μεσογειακή χλωρίδα, φυτά από υποτροπικές περιοχές) και καθορισμός της δομής τους με φασματοσκοπικές μεθόδους. Φαρμακολογική αξιολόγηση. Μελέτες συσχετισμού δομής-δράσης.
• Μελέτη αιθερίων ελαίων από αρωματικά φυτά με στόχο αφενός την αποτύπωση του χημικού προφίλ και αφετέρου τον συσχετισμό με περιβαλλοντικούς παράγοντες. 
• Χημειοταξινομικές μελέτες 
• Εθνοφαρμακολογικές και ιστορικές μελέτες με έμφαση στα ελληνικά ιατρικά χειρόγραφα της κλασσικής, αλεξανδρινής και βυζαντινής περιόδου
